Pacers @ Pelicans
Smoothie King Center, New Orleans, LA
Indiana Pacers What To Watch:
In their most recent game, the Indiana Pacers found their offense and snapped a three-game losing streak.
On Friday night, the New Orleans Pelicans will host the Pacers in an attempt to regain their offensive flair and snap their three-game losing streak.
On Wednesday, host Indiana outlasted the reigning champion and undefeated Boston Celtics 135-132 in overtime, putting on its greatest performance of the early season.
The Pelicans, who had won their first two games, ended a 1-3 road trip that same evening by losing to Golden State (104-89) for the second time in two nights.
Before Boston came back to force overtime, Indiana had to scramble after leading by as many as 24 points in the second half. The lost lead was reminiscent of the Pacers blowing big leads in three games during the Celtics' four-game sweep of the 2024 Eastern Conference playoffs.
With 29 points, including the last five of overtime after Boston had seized a two-point lead, Pascal Siakam led the Pacers.
Despite their offensive struggles throughout the skid, the Pacers defeated the Celtics to end with a season-high number of points.
New Orleans Pelicans What To Watch:
The Pelicans, meanwhile, shot just 36.7 percent from the field on Wednesday and scored less than 100 points for the first time this season. Zion Williamson finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds, but he only made 5 of 20 attempts from the field.
After "forcing the issue" on Wednesday, Williamson, who shot 12 of 19 and scored 31 points in Tuesday's 124-106 loss to the Warriors, said he has to have more patience.
Regarding injuries, Dejounte Murray is anticipated to miss four to six weeks following surgery to repair a fractured left (non-shooting) hand sustained in the season opener, and Trey Murphy III has not yet played due to a strained hamstring.
Both Herbert Jones (shoulder) and CJ McCollum (adductor) will miss the game due to injuries sustained on Tuesday. Daniel Theis is doubtful after missing Wednesday's game due to an ankle injury.
His undermanned squad "battled our tails off" on Wednesday, according to coach Willie Green, and "took a step in the right direction."
