Washington Wizards What To Watch:

On Wednesday, the New York Knicks and Washington Wizards will play their second of five preseason games together.

On the other hand, New York improved upon their 50-32 East division second-place result from the previous season by defeating the Charlotte Hornets 111-109 on the road in their opening preseason game on Sunday.

 The Washington team added interest to its frontcourt this year when it selected versatile stretch big man Alex Sarr at No. 2 in the draft. Sarr is seen as a raw potential, nonetheless.

In order to provide guidance to their young team, the Wizards also added veteran mentors Malcolm Brogdon and Jonas Valanciunas during the offseason. Still, guard Jordan Poole and forward Kyle Kuzma—two players who seem most suited for auxiliary roles—remain the focal points of their attack. And so it seems that Washington is ready for another season of tanking.

 

New York Knicks What To Watch:

All things considered, New York has an advantage over Washington. It features the best defensive (OG Anunoby and Bridges) and offensive (Brunson and Towns) players in the contest.

The Knicks strengthened the team from the previous campaign, which came only one victory away from the team's first conference finals trip since 2000. They get a strong two-way wing presence from Bridges and frontcourt space from Towns. Both should lessen the need for Brunson to lead the team in the interim.

Although New York's eight-man rotation seems prepared for the postseason, its depth is in doubt. The Knicks' biggest absence is reserve center Mitchell Robinson (ankle), since none of their starters have been listed as injured.
