Jazz @ Nuggets
Ball Arena, Denver, CO
Utah Jazz What To Watch:
When the Utah Jazz visit the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night, they will need to figure out how to restrict a three-time NBA MVP after struggling to stop a special player in Victor Wembanyama on Thursday night.
In Thursday's 106-88 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, Wembanyama dominated Utah with 25 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals, and 5 blocks, keeping the Jazz the only team without a win in the league. Gaining that first win would require defeating Nikola Jokic of Denver, who is having a great season so far.
Filipowski and Williams started Thursday's game against the Spurs since Lauri Markkanen is experiencing back spasms and Taylor Hendricks was sidelined for the season due to a broken leg and dislocated ankle.
Despite losing to San Antonio, Filipowski played a strong game, scoring 12 points on 5-for-8 field goal shooting, including half of his four 3-point tries. Williams made his only two foul shots but missed all six of his shot attempts.
Both players are not taking this lightly since they understand that it is their opportunity to demonstrate their NBA skills.
Denver Nuggets What To Watch:
Only five games into the season, Jokic has already recorded two 40-point performances and two triple-doubles, but Denver hasn't had a strong start. Before losing at Minnesota on Friday night, the Nuggets had won overtime away games on consecutive nights after losing two straight to start the season.
Jamal Murray was smacked in the head during the second half of Denver's 119-116 defeat to the Timberwolves, meaning the team will be without a starter. After a few possessions, Murray was harmed when he collided with Julius Randle, who was cutting through the lane.
The Nuggets, who have mainly depended on their starters this season, face yet another obstacle. Malone has tried to find a recipe by alternating his starters with his reserves and plugging in Hunter Tyson, who hasn't been utilized much, on Friday night.
Against a club that is playing back-to-back games for the second time this week, Utah does have the benefit of rest. However, the Jazz are also battling injuries, which has allowed rookies Cody Williams and Kyle Filipowski to see more action.
