Raptors @ Nuggets
Ball Arena, Denver, CO
Toronto Raptors What To Watch:
The Toronto Raptors defeated Sacramento in overtime on Saturday night, riding high on the emotion surrounding Vince Carter's retirement of his No. 15.
When they travel to the Nuggets on Monday night, they can draw inspiration from their defeat to Denver the previous week.
Toronto is attempting to develop despite the injuries to a number of important players. Bruce Brown and Immanuel Quickley missed Saturday night's victory, and Kelly Olynyk and Scottie Barnes will be out for several weeks due to orbital fractures.
Some younger players have been pressed into significant minutes as a result, and second-year guard Gradey Dick has reacted. In order to support RJ Barrett and Chris Boucher, Dick, who averages 21 points a game, delivered 22 points in the victory over the Kings.
Dick has seized his chances seven games into this season, despite averaging just 8.5 points in 60 games as a rookie the previous year. He struck a floater in the last minute to increase the advantage to three points and made a crucial defensive play in Saturday night's overtime.
Denver Nuggets What To Watch:
For its first victory of the season, Denver overcame Toronto in overtime last week. With 1:43 left in regulation and an eight-point advantage, the Raptors appeared to have the game in hand. However, the Nuggets won it in overtime after Jamal Murray, a native son, knotted the score with a basket.
Denver's season seemed to get off to a good start. It defeated Utah handily on Saturday night, and it has won three of the previous four games. On Monday night, it might have a winning record.
Murray was sidelined for the Nuggets' game after suffering a head injury during Friday night's loss to Minnesota and entering concussion protocol. He was ruled out of Sunday's game against Toronto by Denver.
The Nuggets utilized Julian Strawther as their backup point guard and pushed Russell Westbrook into the starting lineup when Murray was sidelined against the Jazz. With 19 points in response, Strawther gave a struggling bench a boost.
After Denver's two home losses to start the season, the three victories have also eased the resentment.
