Kings @ Heat
Kaseya Center, Miami, FL
Sacramento Kings What To Watch:
The Sacramento Kings, who will play the Miami Heat on Monday night, have added a lot thanks to DeMar DeRozan.
To get to Miami on Monday, the Kings and Heat had to go through customs. The Heat defeated the Washington Wizards in Mexico on Saturday, the same day the Kings played in Canada.
DeRozan is currently in his 16th NBA season after being acquired in July as part of a sign-and-trade agreement. With at least 20 points in each of Sacramento's six games, the 35-year-old, a six-time All-Star, is still going strong. With 25.3 points per game, he leads the Kings in scoring.
Sacramento's three-game winning streak ended on Saturday night when they lost 131–128 in overtime to the Toronto Raptors, where DeRozan scored a game-high and season-high 33 points.
After the previous season, DeRozan was a major addition for Sacramento, but the Kings also brought back their core group, which includes Domantas Sabonis, one of the NBA's best centers, Fox, Keegan Murray, Malik Monk, and 3-point shooter Kevin Huerter. With 21.5 points per game, 13.0 rebounds, and 6.3 assists, Sabonis leads the Kings.
Fox, who completed the previous season ranked sixth in the NBA in scoring (26.6), is arguably the league's fastest player. He has scored 23.5 points per game on average so far this season.
Miami Heat What To Watch:
Miami just won a game in Mexico City as part of the NBA Global Games series against Washington, 118-98.
With Tyler Herro (team-high 20.8 scoring average) and Terry Rozier in the backcourt, Jimmy Butler (team-high 5.6 assists) and Nikola Jovic at forward, and Bam Adebayo (team-high 8.6 rebounds) at center, Miami has started the same lineup in each of their five games.
Despite being Miami's emotional leader, Butler is 35 years old and has shown some symptoms of deterioration, including a number of injuries during the last two years. After 20.8 points per game the previous season, his scoring pace has somewhat decreased to 17.0 points per game thus far this season.
Conversely, Jovic, who is 21 years old, is the most underappreciated Heat starter. This past summer, he competed for Serbia in the Olympics and keeps getting better.
In the offseason, three-time All-Star Adebayo agreed to a three-year, $166 million contract extension. In the game against Mexico on Saturday, he finished with 32 points and 14 rebounds.
The Heat bench is led by Jaime Jaquez Jr., who made NBA first-team All-Rookie last season.
