Kings @ Hawks
State Farm Arena, Atlanta, GA
Sacramento Kings What To Watch:
After a 0–2 start, the Sacramento Kings enter the game having won two in a row. The Kings' offensive has been a three-headed assault, with Domantas Sabonis leading the pack with 24.3 points per game, followed by DeMar DeRozan with 23 and De'Aaron Fox with 21.5.
The Kings just defeated the Utah Jazz 113-96 on the road, and Sabonis finished with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and an effective 13-for-18 shooting percentage.
After a 0–5 preseason slump that continued into the first two games of the season, Brown acknowledges that the team appeared out of balance. Brown's expectations are as high as ever for a Sacramento squad hoping to win three straight seasons for the first time in 19 years.
Last year, Sacramento and Brown swept Atlanta in their two-game season series.
Atlanta Hawks What To Watch:
When the Hawks host the Sacramento Kings on Friday in Atlanta, two teams that are on opposing trends will face off.
Atlanta has won two of its first two games of the season, but the Hawks have lost three straight due to a string of early-season ailments.
The squad tied for second-highest in the NBA last season with an average of 120.5 points per game. Five games into the season, Atlanta has once again struggled defensively, giving up 123.6 points per game, which is third only to the Wizards and Raptors (124).
Key defenders Dyson Daniels and De'Andre Hunter have missed four games between them, so the injury bug hasn't helped the case either. Daniels, who is second in the NBA with 2.8 steals per game, was acquired by the Hawks from New Orleans in an offseason trade for Dejounte Murray.
Hunter (knee) and Daniels (hip) are not anticipated to miss much time, but another Atlanta contributor pair did not have the same luck. After undergoing a non-surgical surgery on his hamstring, Bogdan Bogdanovic, who finished the previous season with a career-high 16.9 points per game, will be evaluated again in four weeks. The team also revealed that Kobe Bufkin, a 2023 first-round pick, will undergo another evaluation in four weeks because of a shoulder subluxation.
Atlanta suffered its second defeat to the Wizards in as many games on Wednesday, losing 133-120 to Washington due to injuries. The Hawks led by eight points at the half, but they let Washington score 76 points in the second half to lose.
Trae Young leads Atlanta in scoring with 28.2 points per game, followed by Hunter with 18. Trae Young leads Atlanta in scoring with 28.2 points per game, followed by Hunter with 18. Daniels and Hunter will not play in Friday's game.
