Portland Trail Blazers What To Watch:

The Portland Trail Blazers play the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday to begin their four-game preseason schedule. LA will play in its third of five preseason games, while Portland has not yet started exhibition action.

The Clippers, led by James Harden, lost to the Golden State Warriors 91-90 in the last seconds on Saturday to begin their preseason play. They defeated the Brooklyn Nets 115-106 on Tuesday as a result, putting up balanced offensive output in both games.

Portland has a young team with a number of promising players to watch, such as point guard Scoot Henderson, who was selected third overall last year. The dynamic guard will try to improve on his lackluster debut season.

 

Los Angeles Clippers What To Watch:

Kawhi Leonard, LA's star forward, is still recovering from a right knee surgery that was done summer. The Clippers are apparently taking their time with the frequently injured two-time NBA champion, who has not yet been approved for five-on-five scrimmages.

After star wing Paul George joined the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency, the Clippers are still getting used to life without him. Between Leonard's long history of injuries and George's resignation.

LA has a more established, veteran-heavy squad than Portland, with many excellent role players, even with Leonard out.

With Terance Mann and possibly Norman Powell as additional scoring options, Harden should lead the Clippers' offense once more. Alongside center Ivica Zubac, their offseason additions, guard Kris Dunn and big Derrick Jones Jr., are expected to function as defensive specialists.
