NBA 2024-25 Regular Season
Portland Trail Blazers vs LA Clippers 30 October 2024 Full Game Replay
Game Info
Wednesday, October 30th, 2024 10:30 PM ET
Trail Blazers @ Clippers
Intuit Dome, Inglewood, CA
Portland Trail Blazers What To Watch:
Despite losing three of their first four games this season, the Trail Blazers have made some progress. Portland has improved defensively and has only allowed 106.3 points per game in the last three games after allowing 140 points at home against the Warriors to start the season.
Shooting is the main cause of the Blazers' problems. Prior to Tuesday's games, Portland was ranked 27th in the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage (30.5 percent) and 25th in overall shooting % (42.2 percent).
The Trail Blazers defeated the Sacramento Kings 111-98 on Monday, their first trip game of the season, following their first victory on Sunday, a 125-103 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
With 20 points and 11 rebounds in the defeat, Deandre Ayton led the way and recorded his fourth straight double-double. With a season-opening average of 14.3 points and 12.3 rebounds, Ayton might be a threat to Zubac on Wednesday.
The late Bill Walton, who had a double-double in his first six games of the 1977–78 season, was the previous Portland player to do it in their first four games of the season.
LA Clippers What To Watch:
The Los Angeles Clippers will play the Portland Trail Blazers at their new venue on Wednesday in Inglewood, California, following a promising two-game road trip.
In the first game at their new $2 billion home, the Intuit Dome, the Clippers fell to the Phoenix Suns 116-113 in overtime. To bounce back from the season-opening defeat, they traveled three days later and defeated the Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors.
These wins were made possible by the absence of star Kawhi Leonard, who is sidelined indefinitely due to persistent knee problems, and Paul George, who left in free agency to join the Philadelphia 76ers. With James Harden, 35, in charge, Los Angeles has discovered new favorite scorers.
In the season opener, Harden led the Clippers in scoring, but Ivica Zubac scored 23 points and pulled down 18 rebounds against the Warriors, and Norman Powell scored a team-high 37 points against the Nuggets.
Zubac has improved early in the season, scoring 22.7 points per game, which is over twice as many as his previous career high of 11.7 points recorded in 2023–24. Prior to Tuesday's games, he leads the NBA with 14.0 rebounds per game, which is also a career high.
