Phoenix Suns What To Watch:

Before the 2024–25 season, the LA Lakers will play just their second preseason game with their entire roster. When the Purple and Gold play the Phoenix Suns on Sunday (Oct. 6) at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, they will show off their rejuvenated offense, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis confirmed to suit up.

It will be interesting to see because James and his son Bronny James will almost definitely make NBA history when they play. The four-time NBA champion's ambition of playing with his kid will finally come true, making this moment one to remember.

The Suns will be counting on Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, and Kevin Durant, collectively known as the "Big 3," to continue where they left off the previous year. After a blockbuster trade for Bradley Beal, Phoenix was deemed legitimate title contenders the previous season, but they lost 4-0 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the opening round.

 

Los Angeles Lakers What To Watch:

There was enough to digest from the Lakers' opening preseason game. Max Christie's $32 million offseason contract was validated as he finished with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists on 5 of 9 shots. With 16 points, rookie Dalton Knecht proved he was NBA ready.

While a healthy Gabe Vincent scored 11 points with outstanding play on both ends of the court, Bronny James collected three blocks, demonstrating how he could fit into Alex Caruso's template for the team.

This is not to argue that LA, led by JJ Redick, is already a strong team. Their three-point shooting still appeared to be lacking. Redick was dissatisfied with their one-through-four switching but hopeful that the tactic would be used more in the upcoming games.
