New York Knicks What To Watch:
With the acquisition of Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges, the New York Knicks may have won the offseason.
Things haven't gone well for the Knicks, who play the Miami Heat on Wednesday night, albeit it's still early.
With center Mitchell Robinson and power forward Precious Achiuwa, a former Heat first-round choice, out, New York has struggled with depth.
Due to his recovery from an ankle injury sustained in May, Robinson has not participated this season. At the time of the injury, Achiuwa was projected to miss two to four weeks after suffering a strained left hamstring in the final preseason game.
The initial wing Josh Hart missed Monday's 110-104 loss to the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers due to an ankle ailment.
Late in the fourth quarter, Hart, who finished Monday with 16 points and 13 rebounds, hobbled to the locker room and never came back. His status for Wednesday's game is categorized as uncertain.
Towns is shooting brilliantly thus far, making 66.7 percent of 3-pointers and 93.3 percent of free throws. However, he only ranks fourth in the team's scoring (15.3).
In addition, Towns' lifetime 2-point shooting percentage of 56.9 is down to only 45.5 percent.
Additionally, Knicks fans feel as though they are missing DiVincenzo's long-range shooting, as he led the team in 3-point shooting last season with 283 made 3-pointers, shooting 40.1 percent from outside the arc.
Miami Heat What To Watch:
The Heat, meantime, won two consecutive games, albeit against Charlotte and Detroit, two non-playoff teams, following a humiliating opening-night loss to the visiting Orlando Magic.
The Heat's defense usually comes first when they're cooking. In Miami's 106-98 victory over Detroit on Monday, Jimmy Butler recorded four of the team's 15 thefts.
Butler only managed three points, two attempted free throws, and one steal in 26 minutes during the Orlando loss.
Butler averaged 24.5 points, 14.0 attempted free throws, and 3.0 steals over the next two games.
The six-time All-Star is, in fact, getting into the paint and drawing fouls when he is in the zone.
Miami's top scorers after three games are Terry Rozier (19.3 points per game), Tyler Herro (18.3), and Butler (17.3). Butler leads the team in assists (6.7) and steals (2.3), while Bam Adebayo leads in rebounds (8.7).
For Miami, there is another thing that works.
Butler, a five-time member of the NBA's All-Defensive team, has thoughts on his tendency to get steals.
