New York Knicks What To Watch:
With two games scheduled for opening night, including the New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics, the NBA officially returns on Tuesday. The Celtics will hoist their 18th championship banner in the rafters at the TD Garden in Boston for the game.
With the exception of their final game loss to the Washington Wizards, New York had an outstanding 4-1 preseason record. The Toronto Raptors were the only team to upset the Celtics, who also finished 4-1.
This offseason, the New York Knicks made a big splash by signing OG Anunoby to a massive extension and adding Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets. Along with signing Jalen Brunson to a new contract, the Knicks acquired Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves during training camp.
The team is among the best in the league, but it might take some time for them to click. The lack of depth is coach Tom Thibodeau's only issue. There isn't much else, but Miles McBride, Cameron Payne, and Precious Achiuwa are good alternatives off the bench.
Boston Celtics What To Watch:
The championship roster of the Boston Celtics hardly changed. With new contracts, Luke Kornet, Xavier Tillman, Drew Peterson, Neemias Queta, and Sam Hauser returned. Derrick White and Jayson Tatum were both given huge deals.
The only issue for Boston is that Kristaps Porzingis' injury reduced their frontcourt depth. Al Horford and Kornet are expected to cover for Porzingis for the first two to three months of the season since he is sidelined until late December or early January.
