Pelicans @ Trail Blazers
Moda Center, Portland, OR
New Orleans Pelicans What To Watch:
As the New Orleans Pelicans begin a two-game series against the Portland Trail Blazers, one star will return on Friday night, while another will be sidelined for an unknown amount of time.
Zion Williamson, who missed Wednesday night's season-opening 123-111 victory over the Chicago Bulls due to sickness, will return to the starting lineup.
However, it's still unclear when Dejounte Murray will return after breaking his left hand late in the game.
In order to strengthen the backcourt, Dejounte Murray was purchased from the Atlanta Hawks over the summer. He is an excellent all-around player who finished the previous season with a career-high 22.5 points, 6.4 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.4 steals.
Murray's departure means the Pelicans are without two important players. Trey Murphy III, a superb shooter, is still out with a hamstring injury and may not be back until next month.
Due to his illness, Williamson was scratched and was not present at the arena on Wednesday night. He is ready for the games in Portland, though, having practiced on Thursday.
In his New Orleans debut, Murray finished with 14 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds. CJ McCollum scored 23 points, while Brandon Ingram scored 33.
Portland Trail Blazers What To Watch:
The visiting Golden State Warriors crushed Portland 139-104 on Wednesday, the first day of the season.
Golden State missed its first nine shots, allowing the Trail Blazers to get out to a solid start. However, the Warriors controlled the last forty-two minutes or more.
The Trail Blazers were outscored 118-83 over the last three quarters.
Portland's second-year guard Scoot Henderson led the squad in scoring with 22 points off the bench. Deni Avdija and Anfernee Simons each contributed 15 points, while Jerami Grant added 16.
Ayton, who finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds, claimed that the communication on the court was inadequate.
Portland will once more be without Matisse Thybulle (knee), Robert Williams III (hamstring), and Shaedon Sharpe (shoulder).
The Pelicans have won their last six encounters with the Trail Blazers, including a 3-0 record last season.
Last season, McCollum, a former Portland standout, scored 30 and 29 points in games against the Trail Blazers. In the other match, he only scored eight points.
