Portland Trail Blazers vs Minnesota Timberwolves What To Watch:
On Friday night in Minneapolis, the Minnesota Timberwolves will play the Portland Trail Blazers in an attempt to win three straight games.
On Thursday night, Minnesota came back to defeat the Chicago Bulls 135-119 on the road. The Timberwolves pulled off the comeback victory by outscoring the Bulls 45–24 in the fourth quarter.
Donte DiVincenzo, the sixth man, and all five of the Timberwolves' starters scored in double figures, with Anthony Edwards leading the way with a game-high 33 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Mike Conley completed with a double-double (14 points, 11 assists), and Julius Randle finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Next up is Portland, who will also be playing on short rest following Thursday night's 118-105 away loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Anfernee Simons contributed 19 points, while Jerami Grant and Deandre Ayton led the Trail Blazers with 21 points each.
Portland has dropped six of its first nine games of the season and three of its last four.
The return of guard Shaedon Sharpe, who made his season debut on Thursday, was one positive development for the Trail Blazers. Sharpe's left shoulder injury kept him out of the first eight games of the season.
Sharpe finished with 13 points on 6-for-9 shooting against the Spurs. He came off the bench for 20 minutes, and as he improves, that amount might increase.
The Trail Blazers are aware that traveling to Minnesota might not be comfortable at all. After making it to the Western Conference finals last spring, the Timberwolves have won five of their first eight games this season.
Rudy Gobert, a big man for Minnesota, stated that he and Edwards are working to improve their pick-and-roll game performance this year. Gobert has often rolled toward the rim, set screens for Edwards, and received a feed for a high-percentage jumper.
Chris Finch, the coach of the Timberwolves, wants his team to be more reliable on the floor.
A season ago, the Timberwolves defeated the Trail Blazers in all four of their meetings. Gobert led Minnesota in their most recent game, a 119-114 victory over Minneapolis on March 4, with 25 points and 16 rebounds. With 34 points, Simons led Portland in scoring.
