Miami Heat vs Denver Nuggets What To Watch:
The Miami Heat got off to a strong start in Phoenix as they began one of their longest road trips of the season. However, it didn't work out, and Miami will instead travel to Denver on Friday night for the second part of their six-game journey.
On Wednesday, the Heat fell 115–112 after leading the Suns by 15 points in the third quarter. They have now lost three of their previous four games and twice in a row, a frustrating run that may result in lineup changes.
The Miami Herald reports that Miami's starting lineup has been outscored by 16.6 points per 100 possessions. Coach Erik Spoelstra substituted Haywood Highsmith for Nikola Jovic in the second half on Wednesday.
Highsmith allowed Bam Adebayo to be on Jusuf Nurkic by scoring 19 points and defending Kevin Durant. Despite missing two of the first six games, Highsmith might still see time in the starting lineup.
Despite being a bigger and more talented scorer, Jovic has had trouble shooting from beyond the arc this season, only managing 30.8 percent. He would rather remain in the starting lineup.
With power forward Aaron Gordon sidelined for several weeks due to a right calf strain, it is less important to start a strong team versus Denver. Jamal Murray is doubtful for Friday after missing the previous three games due to concussion protocol.
With the bench playing a bigger role, the Nuggets have won five of their last six games and three straight. However, the rotation has modified as two starters are out. Peyton Watson, who started at power forward on Wednesday, saved the game by blocking Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to help the team defeat Oklahoma City by two points.
Murray has been starting in place of Russell Westbrook, who joined in the offseason to lead the reserves. After eight games, he appears more at ease in Denver's system and has scored 21 and 29 points in the last two games.
He completed the victory against Toronto on Monday with a block as well.
