Houston Rockets vs Detroit Pistons What To Watch:
When the Houston Rockets visit the Detroit Pistons on Sunday afternoon, they will want to strengthen their defense.
The Rockets are in the top 10 in terms of opponents' scoring (108.9 points per game) and defensive field goal percentage (45.4%), but their crushing defeat by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday didn't seem to reflect that.
Following a 29-point deficit in the second quarter, the Rockets defeated the team 126-107. Last weekend's overtime setback to the Golden State Warriors was Houston's only defeat in their last five games, which they had won four of.
Gilgeous-Alexander went 11-for-16 from the field and scored 29 points. Additionally, Williams scored 14 points while converting 7 of 11 shots, and Holmgren scored 29 points in 29 minutes. The Rockets forced just 10 turnovers and saw the Thunder shoot 51.1 percent from the field overall.
Houston lost the second quarter by a score of 44–20.
The Rockets, who have won their last five meetings with the Pistons, will play the first game of a back-to-back on Sunday. On Monday, they will play the Washington Wizards at home.
With seven players averaging double figures, Houston has demonstrated a flexible offense. Although they have four other double-digit scorers among their improved supporting cast this season, the Pistons are more dependent on their top player, Cade Cunningham (22.8 points per game).
Cunningham enters Sunday's game on a three-game triple-double streak, and Detroit has won three of its previous four games. In Friday's 122-121 victory over the Atlanta Hawks at home, he finished with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists.
After leading by 24 points in the first half, the Pistons lost the lead in the closing seconds. With 8.5 seconds left, Cunningham made a game-saving block to keep the victory intact after scoring the game-winning running hook shot.
The Pistons had just lost to the Charlotte Hornets by one point, which was determined by a tip-in at the last second. Cunningham saved another devastating loss.
