Golden State Warriors vs Cleveland Cavaliers What To Watch:
Despite Cleveland's record start to the season, Cavaliers standout Donovan Mitchell does not want to see the team become complacent.
The Cavaliers opened the season with nine consecutive victories, setting a team record. They have no intention of slowing down when the Golden State Warriors visit town on Friday night.
Mitchell scored a game-high 29 points to help Cleveland defeat the New Orleans Pelicans 131-122 on Wednesday night. Caris LeVert, a backup, and Jarrett Allen both contributed 16 points and 14 rebounds.
The win made Kenny Atkinson the first NBA coach to lead his new team to a 9-0 start in the first nine games.
Atkinson, who served as an assistant coach with the Warriors from 2021 to 2024, is a familiar face to Golden State.
Golden State is also accustomed to a spectacular start, having won 24 straight games to start the 2015–16 campaign.
The Warriors are still 7-1 through their first eight games, but they weren't going to be perfect for more than a month at the start of the season. Their most recent triumph was a 118–112 victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
Andrew Wiggins and Buddy Hield both contributed 16 points, while Stephen Curry finished with 27 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists against the reigning champions.
It was the third game of Golden State's five-game road trip, which isn't going to get any easier. The Warriors will play the 7-1 Thunder in Oklahoma City on Sunday after playing the Cavaliers.
Due to the dubious status of Draymond Green (knee), De'Anthony Melton (back), and Brandin Podziemski (illness), Golden State may be shorthanded versus Cleveland.
Although the Cavaliers have not yet made their injury report public, they want to add Dean Wade to their roster. Wade's sickness has kept him out of the last two games.
Last season, Cleveland defeated Golden State in both of their encounters
