Brooklyn Nets vs Boston Celtics What To Watch:
To bounce back from their first home loss, the Celtics host the Nets.
When the Boston Celtics host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, they want to recover from their season's first home defeat.
The Celtics fell to the Golden State Warriors 118–112 on Wednesday, their second defeat of the season.
After going 2-for-7 in the first half, Jayson Tatum, who was misused by Warriors coach Steve Kerr during the summer Olympics in Paris, finished with 32 points. Despite their best efforts, Boston was unable to overcome a 14-point deficit in the second half.
26 points were added by Derrick White. In a career-high 28 minutes off the bench, Neemias Queta finished with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
However, Jaylen Brown missed the Celtics' third consecutive game because of a strained hip flexor, an injury that coach Joe Mazzulla is not too concerned about. Luke Kornet has soreness in his right hamstring on Wednesday.
Queta earned just his second career start against the Warriors after the lineup's two previous losses allowed room for him. His defensive presence was very noticeable.
Since defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 106-104 at home on Monday—their third in four games to return to an even.500—the Nets have not played.
Against Memphis, Johnson and Dennis Schroder each scored 20 points. Schroder contributed six more assists.
Given that Ben Simmons and Nic Claxton both practiced on Wednesday, coach Jordi Fernandez should be able to start his healthy team this Friday.
Monday marked Claxton's first start following his recovery from a hamstring injury.
The second of a back-to-back was missed by Simmons, who has been battling a back problem. He had filled in at center for a portion of Claxton's absence.
After going 4-10 in back-to-back games the previous season, Brooklyn is now 2-0 in these situations. The Nets have another road trip planned, as they travel from Boston to play the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. The Cavaliers are 9-0 going into Friday's visit from Golden State.
