Grizzlies @ 76ers
Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA
Memphis Grizzlies What To Watch:
Joel Embiid, an All-Star center, was expected to make his Philadelphia 76ers season debut against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday, but that is not going to happen.
Embiid is strengthening his surgically repaired left knee, which has prevented him from playing in the preseason or the first four games of the regular season.
Despite his complete participation in Friday's Sixers practice, which included 5-on-5 scrimmages, it appears that he is still not prepared to play live.
In keeping with his pledge to do everything in his power, Embiid said that media accusations casting doubt on his dedication have insulted him.
Not just the former NBA MVP is currently absent from the Sixers. In addition to not playing this season, Paul George, who inked a four-year, $212 million contract over the summer, is still recovering from a left knee ailment.
Like Embiid, George practiced on Friday, which coach Nick Nurse referred to as "a normal day at the office." George, however, will also be unavailable against Memphis.
Tyrese Maxey, a standout guard, and veterans like Eric Gordon, Kyle Lowry, and Andre Drummond will be under additional pressure as a result. Gordon, Lowry, and Drummond combined for just 15 points in 64 minutes, while Maxey scored 32 points in Wednesday's crushing defeat to the Detroit Pistons.
Philadelphia 76ers What To Watch:
Starting with Saturday's game, the Memphis Grizzlies will travel for five of their next seven games.
The Memphis Grizzlies just crushed the visiting Milwaukee Bucks 122-99, with 26 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds from Ja Morant. One of the fastest triple-doubles in NBA history, he completed it in 21 minutes and 28 seconds.
In a 42.7 percent shooting effort overall, the Grizzlies held the Bucks to 9 of 42 shooting (21.4 percent) from 3-point range. Damian Lillard, Gary Trent Jr., and Pat Connaughton, Milwaukee's three backcourt threats, were held to 6-of-31 shooting by Memphis, including 1 of 18 from long range.
In the last three years, the Sixers and Grizzlies have split their season series. On November 20, they will meet once more in Memphis.
