Los Angeles Lakers What To Watch:

At Footprint Center on Thursday, the LA Lakers and Phoenix Suns will square off for the second time this preseason. The Lakers, who are now 1-3, lost to Phoenix 118-114 in their previous meeting at Palm Springs on October 6. But in the first half, when both teams played their anticipated regular season rotation, the Lakers prevailed, leading 69-57.

For LA, LeBron James and Anthony Davis were excellent. In 16 minutes, James finished with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and 3 assists, while Davis finished with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. Together, they made 15 of 22 shots, three of which were from deep.

The Lakers are the underdogs going into this game. For them, the first four games have been tales of two halves. For the most part, the scheduled rotation for the regular season has performed admirably against its opponents; nevertheless, the bench and reserves have disappointed.

But in the Lakers' 111-97 loss to the Warriors on Tuesday, neither rotation was good enough. Their already poor defense saw no upgrades, and their offense failed to carry out coach JJ Redick's schemes as well as it would have liked to.

LeBron James shot 3 out of 9 for 6 points, underperforming. The lone bright spot was Anthony Davis, who finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds on 10 of 14 shooting.

The Lakers will be without James and Hachimura.

Phoenix Suns What To Watch:

The big three of the Phoenix Suns—Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, and Kevin Durant—struggled. Booker and Beal each scored twelve points, while Durant was only able to muster six on three of ten attempts.

But, the Suns, who only used their bench and reserves while Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, and other players rested or were hurt, are coming off an outstanding 118-114 victory over the Nuggets.

Phoenix made 23 of 52 3-pointers, shooting lights-out. After playing with a reduced roster, the defense found it difficult to defeat strong opponents once more.
