LA Clippers What To Watch:

While a season-opening loss isn't cause for alarm, it does allow teams to swiftly determine what has to be improved.

After losing their home openers this week, the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers are in that predicament. When the Clippers travel to Denver on Saturday afternoon, one of them will undoubtedly win the second game.

If a few things had gone according to plan during Wednesday's overtime loss to Phoenix, Los Angeles might have won 1-0. An unfortunate missed free throw and the Clippers' shaky defense were factors in the defeat.

Before the Suns scored 11 points in a row and Clippers player James Harden, who finished with 29 points and 12 rebounds, had a chance to force double OT but missed a foul shot, Los Angeles had a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Even though Harden finished two assists short of a triple-double, his overall performance was subpar. Those are minor issues that can be fixed.

 

Denver Nuggets What To Watch:

After Thursday night's 102-87 loss to Oklahoma City at home, the Nuggets are feeling the same way. The Thunder only shot 42.6 percent, so Denver's defense was adequate, but the offense lacked coherence and the shots weren't falling.

Getting used to a new rotation is partly to blame for that. After starting from the bench for his first two seasons, Christian Braun moved into the starting lineup, while new reserves were added as a result of roster adjustments.

Russell Westbrook finished his Denver debut with six points, five rebounds, and five assists, but he was only 2 for 10 from the field. The bench went 1-for-16 from 3-point range and only managed 16 points overall.

However, the Nuggets were 35-for-98 (35.7 percent) from the floor, and Braun was the only player to make more shots than he missed, proving that making shots was not exclusive to that group.

Especially from a deep perspective, it does not appear to be an easy repair. Prior to the season, Denver's 3-point shooting was questioned, and on Thursday night, it missed 31 of 38 attempts from outside the arc.

After the Nuggets failed to convert makeable shots, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope's absence was felt.
