Golden State Warriors What To Watch:

When the Golden State Warriors play the host Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night to start the season, their dynastic dynamic has changed significantly.

In the offseason, Klay Thompson left the team to join the Dallas Mavericks. Following six NBA Finals together and four championship rings, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and their longtime partner are now without their companion.

Now that Golden State is trying to change its strategy, Curry and Green will mix in with other players. The Warriors (46-36) lost badly to the Sacramento Kings in the Western Conference play-in round last season, which prevented them from qualifying for the playoffs.

Golden State will rely on the 36-year-old Curry and attempt to create a roster that works with only one "Splash Brother" on board. The other certain starters going into the Portland game are Andrew Wiggins, 29, and Green, 34.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr refrained from announcing the full starting lineup following Tuesday's practice.

"My gut is we're going to look at a lot of different combinations, but when we find one, we'll stay with it," Kerr stated. "We simply need to get things started in a particular manner and then see how things work out. Everyone needs to remain prepared, as I'm reminding the players.

Curry is ready for the opening despite having just hurt his right index finger. On Sunday, Kerr conducted a lengthy scrimmage, mostly to allow Curry more time to regain his form.

Kyle Anderson, a forward, and guards Buddy Hield and De'Anthony Melton are among the Golden State additions. Forwards Jonathan Kuminga and Trayce Jackson-Davis, as well as guards Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody, are among the youthful holdovers.

Last season, Jonathan Kuminga averaged 16.1 points. He turned down approaches before Monday's rookie extension deadline for his draft class, and he is now starting his fourth season. After the season, he will be a restricted free agent.

Portland Trail Blazers What To Watch:

The Trail Blazers (21-61) tied for the second-most losses in the team's history and were among the poorest teams in the NBA the previous season.

Before the start of the previous season, Portland ended the Damian Lillard era, and they are currently figuring out how to move forward.

In this year's draft, the Trail Blazers selected UConn center Donovan Clingan with the seventh overall choice. Last season, center Deandre Ayton had his best games; forward Jerami Grant consistently scores; and the backcourt is made up of Scoot Henderson, a second-year pro, and Anfernee Simons.

Guard Shaedon Sharpe (shoulder), post player Robert Williams III (hamstring), and swingman Matisse Thybulle (knee) will miss the first game due to Portland's recent string of injuries.

The Trail Blazers will need personnel because Billups intends to up the tempo.

Golden State has won 10 of their last 11 encounters with the Trail Blazers, including a 4-0 record the previous season.
