Detroit Pistons What To Watch:

The Detroit Pistons, who finished the 2023–24 season with the poorest record in the NBA, have yet to win a game.

However, that does not imply that things are not improving.

The Pistons are 0-3 and have lost three straight games to teams that made the NBA playoffs the previous season, including the defending champion Boston Celtics. On Monday night, they will travel to the Miami Heat.

They have lost by six points twice and twelve points once.

With just over five minutes left on Saturday, the Pistons had a 112-106 lead over the Celtics, but Boston went on an 8-0 run that Detroit was unable to overcome, losing 124-118.

The Pistons' long-standing issue with closing out games is partly to blame for that. The Pistons are averaging 30.3 points in the first quarter of this season's games. It is 22 in the fourth quarter.

Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart, meanwhile, remains confidence in his team in spite of that discrepancy.

Tim Hardaway Jr., a 6-foot-5 shooting guard and the son of the former Heat great, is one of Detroit's signings for this season. This season, the younger Hardaway, who attended Miami High School, is averaging 10.7 points.

This season, the Pistons have new management. The new president of basketball operations, Trajan Langdon, a former Duke standout, appointed J.B. Bickerstaff as coach.

Miami Heat What To Watch:

Miami has been starting Terry Rozier and Tyler Herro at guard, with Jimmy Butler, Nikola Jovic, and Adebayo up front, while power forward Kevin Love has been sidelined for personal reasons.

Free-agent signee Alec Burks, 3-point shooter Duncan Robinson, and 2023 first-round pick Jaime Jaquez Jr. lead the bench.

Butler, who is 35 years old and nearing the end of his career, is under a lot of pressure. Butler rebounded with 26 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists against Charlotte after only managing three points, four rebounds, and five assists in the defeat to Orlando.

Miami appeared to try very hard to get their star more involved, as Butler recorded a team-high 75 touches against the Hornets.

Adebayo is off to a poor start, averaging 10.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in just two games. He averaged 19.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists during the previous campaign.

At age 21, Nikola Jovic is a rising talent who competed for Serbia in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. At 6-10 and 210 pounds, Jovic fills in for Adebayo at center in some lineups.

Over 27 minutes per game, Nikola Jovic averages 12.5 points, 3.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds.
