Game Info

Cavaliers @ Knicks
Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
Cleveland Cavaliers What To Watch:
After being eliminated by the Knicks in the first round in the spring of 2023, the Cavaliers lost to the Celtics in the Eastern Conference playoffs in May, but few teams have been stronger this season.
Although they are 3-0 so far this season, Cleveland leads opponents by an average of 20.3 points per game, which is the second-highest number in the NBA as of Sunday, only surpassed by the Golden State Warriors, who have played one fewer game.
Since opening 6-0 in the penultimate season of LeBron James' second stint with the Cavaliers in 2016–17, the team has not begun 4-0 or better.
In the third quarter, Cleveland, which finished a back-to-back set on Saturday, blasted open a close game with a 36–20 run after trailing the Wizards for only 14 seconds at 2-0. In the fourth quarter, the Cavaliers were ahead by as much as 27 points.
Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland both finished with 23 points, while Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 30 points. Early in the season, Mitchell leads the club with 23.3 points per game.
New York Knicks What To Watch:
Against the Eastern Conference opponents they pursued last spring, the New York Knicks had an uneven start to the season.
The Knicks will then learn how they compare against another unusual opponent, the Cleveland Cavaliers, who had a strong start to the season but have been defeated by New York in a postseason game.
When the Knicks play Cleveland on Monday, they hope to give the Cavaliers their first defeat.
The Knicks haven't played since defeating the visiting Indiana Pacers 123-98 on Friday thanks to a strong second-quarter surge. After easily defeating the host Washington Wizards 135-116 on Saturday, the Cavaliers were off on Sunday.
The Knicks, who lost to Indiana in a seven-game Eastern Conference semifinal series in May, were able to regain their form and exact some retribution with the victory over the Pacers.
Three nights after losing to the Boston Celtics 132-109, the Knicks shot 44.4 percent (12-of-27) from 3-point range and had four players score 20 points: Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Jalen Brunson.
After letting the reigning NBA champion Celtics tie a league record by making 29 3-pointers, New York also held the Pacers to 10 percent 3-point shooting (3-of-30).
