Bulls @ Bucks
Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee, WI
Chicago Bulls What To Watch:
The Chicago Bulls are accustomed to needing to make adjustments for the absence of important players.
Zach LaVine, the team's star player, only appeared in 25 games the previous season because of a foot ailment. LaVine returned for Wednesday's 123-111 loss against the New Orleans Pelicans, scoring 27 points on 10-for-17 field goal shooting, including 5 for 8 3-pointers, to lead Chicago.
Bulls supporters were happy to see LaVine return, but they were also pleased to see Lonzo Ball play in a regular-season game for the first time since January 14, 2022, following a string of knee injuries.
Lonzo Ball made a triple on his first shot attempt in more than two and a half years, scoring five points and dishing out four assists in 14 minutes off the bench.
Lonzo Ball, who turns 27 on Sunday, rejoins a Chicago club that ESPN.com projects will win just 37 games, suggesting that the franchise is starting the rebuilding process. The 2021–22 season was the Bulls' only winning season and postseason appearance since 2017.
Milwaukee Bucks What To Watch:
The Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls, two Central Division rivals with different expectations, will play each other on Friday.
As the team looks to make it back to the playoffs for the ninth straight season, the Bucks believe their window as a contender may be extended for another season. The only team in the NBA with a longer postseason streak than Milwaukee is Boston (10).
But the seasoned squad is also trying to avoid losing in the first round for the third time in a row.
Milwaukee easily defeated an undermanned Philadelphia 76ers club 124-109 on Wednesday to start the season on a high note. Against the 76ers, who were without Joel Embiid and Paul George, second-year Buck Damian Lillard led the way with 30 points, while Giannis Antetokounmpo contributed 25 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists on 8-for-11 shooting from the field.
Due to a calf injury, Antetokounmpo missed the Bucks' entire first-round clash with the Indiana Pacers as well as the final nine games of the previous season. He is still getting used to playing again.
Although the Bucks welcomed back one of the most dominant players in the game, Khris Middleton (ankle) missed Wednesday's game. The 33-year-old Middleton scored 24.7 points per game in Milwaukee's playoff series versus Indiana despite missing 27 games during the regular season.
Fortunately, Doc Rivers, the Bucks' head coach, stated that the veteran is regarded as daily. Taurean Prince, filling in for Middleton, made his club debut on Wednesday, scoring 16 points on 6-for-7 shooting.
