Brooklyn Nets What To Watch:
The Brooklyn Nets just lost to the visiting Denver Nuggets 144-139 in overtime on Tuesday. Dennis Schroder scored 28 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, continuing his explosive start. Schroder scores 22.5 points a game on average.
Cam Thomas has improved. He still averages 28.5 points in four games, and his 26 points were his lowest of the season.
However, Nets coach Jordi Fernandez believes Thomas could have scored more points.
Although Brooklyn defeated Milwaukee 115-102 on Sunday, the Nets have been hindered by injuries.
Ben Simmons (back), who is not expected to play in consecutive games anytime soon, did not play on Tuesday but is anticipated to return on Wednesday. Despite playing 26 minutes on Tuesday, Nic Claxton, who missed the preseason due to a hamstring ailment, will not play against Memphis because of his "rest and recovery," according to Fernandez.
Memphis Grizzlies What To Watch:
The Memphis Grizzlies might want to think about not playing at halftime.
The Grizzlies have had trouble staying defensively focused after leaving the locker room heading into Wednesday night's game against the Brooklyn Nets. The third quarter has been problematic.
Memphis let up 39 points in the third quarter of Monday's lopsided loss to the visiting Chicago Bulls. The Bulls recovered from a 20-point deficit thanks to the breakdown.
Last week, the Grizzlies also let up 39 points to the Houston Rockets in the third quarter. The squad has even given up at least 35 points in the third quarter of its victories over the Jazz and Magic.
Against the Nets, Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins will undoubtedly be looking to change direction.
With 24 seconds remaining in the tumultuous third quarter, Memphis' lead over the Bulls shrank to 97-93 from a 14-point lead at the half.
Memphis' strength is offset if they don't earn defensive stops. The Memphis offense is driven by their defense, according to Grizzlies player Desmond Bane.
On Monday, Memphis played without guard Ja Morant, a two-time All-Star. He is doubtful against Brooklyn and missed the game due to pain in his right thigh. Zach Edey, a rookie center playing 16 minutes per game, is also doubtful due to right calf pain.
