Boston Celtics What To Watch:
In the first week of the season, the reigning NBA champions have easily won two games. When the Boston Celtics visit Detroit on Saturday, they seem poised to win by ten points again.
The Pistons, who are 0–2 this season and are coming off the worst season in team history, have lost to the Celtics nine times in a row. The series was last won by Detroit on February 16, 2022, by a slim margin of 112-111.
Boston's season got off to a great start on Tuesday, defeating the visiting New York Knicks 132-109 and tying the league record with 29 3-pointers made.
The Celtics defeated the Washington Wizards 122-102 on the road on Thursday as a result. After the first quarter, Boston had a one-point lead, but by the half, that had grown to ten. The Celtics won the game by outscoring the Wizards 34–19 in the third quarter.
In the first two games, the two best players on the team have performed admirably. Jaylen Brown contributes 25 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals a game, while Jayson Tatum averages 31 points, 7.5 rebounds, and eight assists. On Thursday, Brown celebrated his 28th birthday with a team-high 27 points.
Tatum exploited a few one-on-one encounters with Alexandre Sarr, a 19-year-old rookie with the Wizards.
Detroit Pistons What To Watch:
Following a 115-109 loss to the visiting Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, Detroit suffered a 113-101 road loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday.
At Cleveland, Cade Cunningham scored 33 points and dished out six assists, but he also made nine turnovers. The Pistons coughed up the ball 22 times in total.
Detroit shot a solid percentage when it didn't give up the ball. The Pistons attempted field goals 46.9 percent of the time, including 40.6 percent from three-point range.
The majority of Cunningham's damage was done inside the arc. He was 2 of 6 from long range but sunk 14 of 24 shots overall.
Guard Malik Beasley scored 13 points off the bench, while backcourt mate Jaden Ivey scored 22 points.
Tobias Harris will need to produce more for the Pistons. After posting 17.2 points per game for the Philadelphia 76ers the previous season, he is now averaging 11.5 points through two games.
